Music & Worship Arts We serve God and the congregation through our gifts: We Welcome and Encourage all to share their talents Here is what people involved in the music ministry at First Christian Church have to say… Do you want to have fun, be in fellowship, and praise God all at the same time? The Music program at First Christian Church offers all of this. You will meet new friends that love music as you do. There is the Bell Choir (The Festive Ringers), if you would rather not sing but want to make joyous music for the Lord. There is the Chancel Choir. You will practice songs for each Sunday’s 8:30 service and prepare for special programs for Christmas and Easter etc. And of course, you will laugh and enjoy your newfound friends. There is also the Praise Team (the Faithtones) that leads worship for the 10:45 service. The Music Program at First Christian Church is a Joyous way to be involved. It will make your heart sing to the Lord. *** We have been in the handbell choir for over 25 years. The bells stretch us to greater heights in our music ability. Don’t let anyone say you can’t ring bells if you can’t read music. Not true. Anyone can learn to ring. But more than this appreciation for music has been the fantastic fellowship and friendships we have developed over the years. That’s what a group like this does – foster friendship. And it’s also fun to ring praises to God. *** Music is a ministry in itself. For me it is a very important part of our Sunday service. I’ve been singing in church and choir since I was a small child. I firmly believe in ‘making a joyful noise unto the Lord” whether it be in praise or song. *** I look forward to choir rehearsal and singing on Sunday morning because it is one of the many ways to serve God and the church. I enjoy meeting with other musicians who love to sing and strive to make all the voices blend into one beautiful and harmonious sound. Our choir director makes the process fun and enjoyable. I hope to contribute for some time to come. *** For several years now I have been part of the handbell choir. I have found it to be an exceptional challenge to ring the right bell at the right time and in teamwork with the other ringers we then can make beautiful music. I also enjoy being part of a group that has a single focus -- to ring with the other ringers to make the music. Under the patient and capable direction of Neil Forsythe, one can become a capable bell ringer with no prior musical experience. You will be surprised and awed at the beauty of the music you can help make. *** Hi, I have played alto saxophone in the band that accompanies the Faithtones at Contemporary Worship. The group is always looking for new people and instruments so talk to Neil Forsythe. Playing with the group has blessed me and is a real learning experience. Also, I've played in the bell choir for 4 years. The bells are so much fun as are the people in our group. Neil has a great since of humor and I enjoy ringing in the group.
