First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Xone 77 Youth Group

ASK…

Youth are encouraged to ask questions, explore faith ideas on their own grounds, and learn at their own pace.  The Disciples of Christ denomination is united by Christ, but supports individual beliefs and diversity

FCC Youth Activities and Opportunities

Weekly meetings provide opportunities for fellowship, worship, music, games, discussion, snacks, and more…

SEEK…

Youth are encouraged to actively look for God’s presence in their life and within creation.  They receive guidance on how to seek a personal relationship with God through prayer, song, worship, and reflection.

Monthly events focus on fellowship, service, and community.  Examples include local service projects, BBQs, concerts, lock-ins, participation in community events, etc.
Special courses provide opportunities for deeper exploration of specific topics ranging from financial management to sexuality & spirituality

KNOCK…

Youth are encouraged to notice opportunities for growth and to take an active part in their own life and faith journey.  As one youth put it, “If a door is closed, do you stand there and wait for it to open, or do you knock?”

Regional camps and retreats provide opportunities for in-depth exploration of faith ideas while immersed in Christian community, set away from the pressures of daily life.
Summer mission trips provide opportunities for transformational experiences of God’s love in action through service to those in need.  2008 trips included service with a homeless shelter in Alamosa , CO (painting, demolition, food service, community gardening) and partial construction of a new home in Greensburg , KS (previous home destroyed by EF-5 tornado).  Recent years have also included service in inner-city Chicago , and Juarez , Mexico
